Getting More out of Your Google Ads: Where AI and Automation Could Help

Questions to explore around ad inquiries, booked-job tracking, qualification and follow-up in a trade business.

If you already run Google Ads, you and your marketing team are putting work into getting the right people to contact the business. A useful next conversation is what happens between that first inquiry and a completed job.

AI and automation may help with parts of that process. They still need clear rules, reliable information and someone watching the results.

How are inquiries acknowledged and assigned?

An automatic acknowledgement could let a customer know their request arrived while alerting the right person to follow up. It should explain what happens next without promising a response time your team cannot meet.

If online booking is appropriate, check service areas, appointment lengths, travel and emergency handling before offering it. Receiving a form does not by itself mean the customer is qualified or the job is booked.

Can you connect an ad inquiry to a booked job?

Lead counts are useful, but they do not tell the whole story. Could you identify which inquiries became jobs and what those jobs were worth?

Google supports sending qualified or closed lead values from a CRM through supported conversion measurement setups. Connecting that information takes the right tracking, matching and configuration. Decide whether the values represent revenue, profit or another measure, and check for missing or duplicate conversions.

Value-based bidding can use the information when correctly configured. Review the setup with whoever manages your ads before changing bidding or budgets.

Which questions would help your office?

A form could ask for the service area and type of work before a person follows up. Search-term reviews may also identify irrelevant traffic worth excluding.

Keep the questions short and check the exceptions. An overly strict filter could turn away a suitable customer whose request does not fit the form neatly.

Could review requests be more consistent?

A request after completed work may make it easier for customers to share their experience. Check the trigger and follow the platform's review rules. The customer decides whether to respond and what rating to leave.

Keep review requests separate from claims about ad costs. Judge the whole process using actual inquiries, booked work and the costs of running it.

A conversation to have with your team

Ask where inquiries wait, who owns the next step and whether job outcomes are visible in the reporting. One well-chosen improvement may be more useful than adding several tools at once.

Where would clearer information help you most: response time, lead quality, quote follow-up or knowing which ads led to work?
